Support for Children & Young People

Childhood and adolescence can bring many challenges. Young people may struggle with emotions, relationships, school pressures, family changes or difficult life experiences that can feel overwhelming.

At Tours Safe Haven Counselling, I provide a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where children and young people can explore their thoughts, feelings and experiences at their own pace. Therapy can help them make sense of what they are going through, develop healthy coping strategies and build confidence in themselves.

I work with children and young people experiencing a range of difficulties, including:

• Anxiety and worry
• Low mood and depression
• Low self-esteem and confidence
• Friendship and relationship difficulties
• Bullying
• School-related stress and exam pressure
• Family separation or divorce
• Bereavement and loss
• Emotional regulation difficulties
• Trauma and adverse childhood experiences
• Domestic abuse and coercive control
• Identity and belonging concerns
• Feelings of anger, overwhelm or isolation

Every child is unique, and therapy is tailored to their individual needs. Sessions may include talking, creative activities, psychoeducation and age-appropriate therapeutic techniques to help young people express themselves in ways that feel comfortable and natural.

My aim is to help children and young people feel heard, understood and supported, while empowering them to develop resilience, emotional awareness and confidence for the future.

How Parents and Carers Are Involved

I recognise the important role parents and carers play in a young person's wellbeing. Where appropriate, I work collaboratively with parents and carers while maintaining the young person's confidentiality. The level of parental involvement will depend on the age and needs of the young person, as well as any safeguarding considerations.
